This place has been wrapped in howling winds for weeks. Inching steadily towards the solstice, morning walks are now steely dark, moonlight glinting on wet tarmac as the dog and I head out through mud and puddles. I am grateful to my brother for a well-stocked wood pile.
This week sees the opening of Natural Makers at Touchstones in Rochdale. I am in great company alongside Stuart Cairns, Laura Ellen Bacon and Adam Buick. The show runs until 27 February.
The Arts Council of Northern Ireland recently approved my application to the SIAP programme, and so I am embarking on a period of research and development towards a new body of work. Enabling the purchase of additional equipment, the grant will extend the range of my practice. Digging into the local landscape, I will begin with a visit to Patterson’s Spade Mill next week.
